Scarlet Reverie is one of the early pieces that would grow into my Savage Garden collection. Painted largely with a canvas knife, the greenery is sharp and textured, an active base from which the scarlet poppies rise.
It reflects the heart of the Savage Garden theme — the coexistence of beauty and danger, fragility and strength. The poppies carry a quiet power.
It also carries a lesson: when revisiting a painting, it rarely repeats itself.
