The Longest Night is a return to an idea I've explored before, swirling crimson, but this time with far greater intention. Rather than simply revisiting the concept, I allowed the painting to evolve through layers of color, texture, and subtle shifts in atmosphere. Hidden beneath everything is a foundation of blue—a quiet presence that influences every mark and every layer above it, even when it can no longer be seen. Alongside its abstract forms, the painting carries a subtle cosmic element, inviting thoughts of infinite space, and the mysteries that exist beyond what we can see.
Another important evolution in this piece is the growing presence of my handwritten aesthetic. What began as an element of my digital work has gradually found its way into my acrylic paintings, becoming a more natural and expressive part of my visual language.
Completed as my final painting of 2025, The Longest Night also holds a special place in my journey as a secret Christmas painting. It marks the close of a year of artistic growth while quietly hinting at the direction in which I want my work to continue.
